Most of you have been in a classroom for a number of years now, so much of what is listed below should not need to be stated.  However, these guidelines are considered to be essential to your continued success in this class as well as your scoring as highly in the participation portion of your grade as possible. You will receive one warning about recurring behavior described below. After that, you will begin to lose class participation points :

Talking:

Please avoid talking out of turn or without raising your hand to be acknowledged. Also, when someone else is speaking (myself ,a guest or a fellow classmate) , please avoid talking to you neighbor. These behaviors are not only detrimental to your participation in here, but are also rude  and unacceptable.

Sleeping:

You cannot participate if you are not awake.  I know you may tired or uninterested or both from time to time, but demonstrating this by taking a nap during class is, again, rude and unacceptable. If you are having legitimate problems staying awake, please consult your family doctor or just get to bed earlier.

Other Distractions:

Cell phones, I Pods, Digital Cameras and the like are never to be visible in the academic wing of the building, or they will, after one warning, be confiscated. This includes headphones, whether they are in your ears or dangling. Either you make them disappear, or I will. Be aware that taking video, photos or voice recordings of anyone without their consent is a serious violation of privacy and will be treated in the most serious manner school policy and the law allow. Don't EVER do this.

Respect:

Respect is earned by demonstrating it to those around you. Treat your classmates with respect during class discussions. Treat the property around you respectfully as well. Disrespectful behavior ( belittling classmates, foul language, writing on or otherwise defacing desks etc.) will be dealt with quickly and severely.

Trips Out of the Classroom:

Every student will be granted 3 unquestioned trips out of the room per marking period. After that, you will have to wait for another class to take care of your out-of-class business. You will receive a ticket from me at the start of each quarter, which I will punch each time you leave. No ticket, no trip out. Three punches and you are done for the quarter, so use them wisely. You cannot carry unused trips over to the next quarter.

Food:

YOU DO NOT HAVE MY PERMISSION TO BRING FOOD INTO THIS CLASS AND EAT IT.  PERIOD.  IF you do not have a lunch period, and this class falls during an appropriate lunch hour, I may allow you to BROWN BAG a lunch from home and eat it during class quickly and quietly, but not every day. You have other classes which also fall during similar appropriate times, so please alternate your days. Also, do not bring anything to drink into this room other than bottled water. Spilling water is easily taken care of. Sugary drinks (juices, sodas etc.) are not. Additionally, these containers left in my trash can will begin to attract various crawling and flying forms of life most of us would like to avoid.

Lateness to class:

Please remember that lateness to class of less than ten minutes is considered a half-cut, and lateness of greater than ten minutes is considered a full cut. If you have a problem with chronic lateness, I will write you up and this will impact the participation portion of your grade. GET TO CLASS ON TIME !
